The Smiths - Sheena & Jaheed's Wedding

Nari Self-Care Beard Oik
I used my last few drops of Nari Beard Oil on the day of this wedding :(

I first met Sheena Gentle two years ago while filming her for a series called Made in Belize. Her line of self-care products, Nari, was the featured small business of the week. Although I can't remember all the products she had, I do remember her Beard Oil for men which was hemp-based...something I had heard was excellent for healthy beard growth and was interested in trying. I bought a bottle on the spot at the shoot and have been using it ever since!

Fast forward two years later, I received a call from Sheena asking me if I would do the honor of photographing her wedding to her longtime boyfriend, well-known athlete, Jaheed Smith. I immediately agreed and the planning began. I knew it was going to be an intimate setting with only the closest friends and family so I wanted to be sure to capture as much as I could to help everyone remember the big day. I quickly got my crew together as I was going to need both photo and video footage.

On the day of the wedding we headed out of our base in Belize City bound for Santa Elena Cayo, where the nuptials were to take place at Butcher's Estate, but first we had to capture the preparations at Mida's Hotel in San Ignacio Town. We arrived to everyone already in prep-mode: the bride-to-be and her bridal party (and daughter) in one room and the groom-to-be and his groomsmen (and son) in another across the hall. The weather outside looked overcast but I was determined to use that to my advantage to capture as much as possible in natural light since the sun wasn't going to be so harsh that day.

Before long it was time to head to the venue. We left ahead of the wedding party and waiting in anticipation as the wedding party arrived. Everyone was teeming with emotion, including Sheena, who couldn't help but cry tears of joy after seeing her husband-to-be in his suit for the first time. Don't worry though, help came quick enough to save her makeup from disaster and before long the ceremony was underway!

How'd that go? Well, I'll let the photos and video tell the rest of the story from here. Enjoy!
